Since we’re all about behind scenes action over at MyFDB, we enjoy paying homage to those who work hard bringing amazing photo shoots together. An integral part of this force are makeup artists, whose jobs can range from touch ups to wild colors and body paint. We feel both incredible and bizarre makeup cause a shoot to be much more memorable. Not to mention, the power of adding character to an actor or creating a new look is exhilarating.

In honor of our makeup artistry friends, we’re giving away two tickets to The Makeup Show NYC. Two winners and their friends will enjoy this annual industry event that highlights tricks of the trade and includes panels from noteworthy artists. Psst…there’s also amazing deals on cosmetics at the event too.

Experienced artist, Tegan Taylor (Avatar, Adventures of Tintin, Yellow Submarine) will talk about “The Age of Digital Makeup” from the era of digital film to the process of working in digital makeup and how it has affected her work. Taylor will discuss skills to understanding makeup application, technology, and character effects. Charlie Green (Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz) will be presenting, “Making Up With,” where she’ll give a first hand glimpse into the creative energy that has allowed her to make her mark on the fashion and celebrity scene. Note taking is a must for these panels!

    laura mercier is great because her products complement my skin. i use so many of her products: her oil-free moisturizer, foundation primer, tinted moisturizer, cream shadow, regular eye shadow, and even face scrub. her products are kind of expensive, but i see them as an investment. i’d love to own more of her stuff~ :)

    I love Makeup Forever because their products are very light, and it makes it seem as if you don’t have on makeup..but still gives you a flawless look. Also, because they have makeup in ALL shades, even for darker complexions. I can appreciate that greatly since its hard to find my shade.

    Hands down, MAC is my favorite makeup brand. Of course there are still makeup must-haves from some other brands like my Chanel Aqua Lumiere gloss and now my Flirt lash curling mascara (shamless plug) but I love how MAC has put it’s stamp on the industry. It’s easy for even a makeup novice to see someone and instantly recognize she (or he) is rocking MAC products. Each season they come up with the most outstanding palettes that keep fashionistas everywhere on trend without having to sell an arm and an eyelid to do so!

    My favorite makeup brand is Tarte. They have great color choices, AWESOME cheek stains, and the products are super-pigmented. Plus, as a Celiac, I really appreciate how they list which products are GF!!!

    So hard to choose among many brands that I like. However, I give the nod to Bobbi Brown Cosmetics because the formulations and colors work for me, make me feel “Pretty Powerful” [their recent campaign (sorry-I couldn't resist)] and we both are supporters of the charity, Dress For Success. However, I also enjoy some products by MAC as well.

    My fav brand of the moment is obsessive compulsive cosmetics. Have you tried their lip tar?? amazing . I love all their colors and hope to see them at the show!!!

    My favorite eyeliner and mascara is Lancome. Perfect texture and look every time. No clumps and lasts for hours. Their rosewater eye makeup remover makes it easy to wash off.

    L’Oreal to me has the BEST track record of quality, accessibility, affordability while still keeping up with trends. While I don’t exclusively subscribe to just one line of cosmetics. I have favorites from many companies.

    I love Bare Minerals because it makes my looks glows and it is actually light than greasy foundation. I mean, I like foundation but then I changed my style to minerals powder. I like it. Before I didn’t care for minerals powder because I thought it was messy but I have grown realizing that I should give another try to any of minerals powder and I chose Bare Minerals. I love it! I just fell in love with it and I’ve been using it DAILY when I go out or go to work. It’s awesome!!

    My favorite brand right now would have to be thebalm. The colors are highly pigmented and everything is quite affordable. Packaging is to die for! Not too many colors available at the moment but as the brand grows more are sure to pop up.

    My favorite make-up line is definitely NARS! They have great color’s, natural and funky one’s that you would never think of putting together. There eye shadow primer is awsum!(sorry i’m a bostonian). Anyway’s, as I was saying, there color’s make every part of ur face just POP, and the best thing about the brand is the names of some products. Orgasm, Super Orgasm, Deep throat…. Come on can it get any better!! U look like a sophisticated pallet when ur done, but u know u have the dirty little names all over you!! LOVE TO NARS!
