Chanel Drops Italy To “Cruise” Into St. Tropez
What’s better than an afternoon fashion show in Venice, Italy? A daytime show inspired by and taking place in St. Tropez, France. After revealing Chanel‘s 2010 Cruise collection in Italy, Karl Lagerfeld moved the 2011 Cruise show to St. Tropez.
The event took place outside of a local cafe with guests seated in bright red director’s chairs and local patrons watching from their yachts. Models hit the pavement with gladiator sandals, kitten heels, flip-flops, or were completely barefoot and merely carried their footwear. For the big finale, Georgia May Jagger was accompanied out on a motorcycle and although the bike stalled out, it was a hit with the crowd.
Elements of the resort town are found all over Lagerfeld’s designs. From the whimsical free flowing dresses to bohemian-chic wraps and bathing suits, the collection also echoes memories from the 60′s and 70′s eras. Chanel‘s latest cruise looks are casual yet glamorous.
