Giles Deacon’s Beacon Over Ungaro
Ungaro has endured more than just a bad year after poor design work by Lindsay Lohan left them in a negative shadow. In an effort to reinvigorate the brand, the company has officially selected Giles Deacon as their new creative director. He’s been rumored as the successor for over a month, but recently talked about his decision to take the position and his plans for the Ungaro brand. He’s working to reawaken the fashion house who is counting on his designs to increase international sales.
As reported by WWD, Deacon said he would forgo the catwalk to present his first collection for Ungaro directly to press and buyers during Paris Fashion Week in October. “I kind of want to get myself into the spirit of the house,” he explained, adding he had already started delving into the archives of the label, founded in 1965.
We look forward to seeing Deacon’s design debut this fall.
