Karl Lagerfeld Crashes The Masstiege Market
We love Karl Lagerfeld’s chic and sometimes over-the-top creations for luxury lines such as Chanel and Fendi, but we’re not sure what to expect from the designer’s new masstiege endeavor.
According to WWD, Lagerfeld “plans to pour his creativity into his new collection, based on the idea of “mass elitism.” The Lagerfeld company, owned by Apax Partners, said negotiations are under way “for the distribution and production of the designer’s new vision.” The new line is expected to be ready for the fall/winter 2011 season.”
This line will be a true test to the marriage between mass-market consumers and a high fashion name. We’re hoping things work out for the best because we’d be stoked at the opportunity to rock some Lagerfeld pieces in the office.
