Accessories Only, Anthropologie’s New Retail Venture

Oct 22, 2010 By Lauren Valenti

Exciting news, Anthropologie is opening up an accessory store! We all know and love Anthropologie’s shabby chic and eclectic style, and gearing it towards accessories-only makes it that much better! According to WWD, the store will have an array of shoes, handbags, scarves, belts, and of course their amazing jewelry. Their jewelry selection has been updated to include both estate jewelry and antique jewelry along with their signature costume and fine jewelry. Along with these jewelry updates come new products such as unique  brooches and engagement rings. And of course the shoes! The shoe selection will encapsulate over 50% of the merchandise! Wendy Wurtzburger, co-president and chief merchandising officer of Anthropologie talked shoes and accessories with WWD:

“Our customer is always in search of truly special shoes…She is driven by her personal taste and appreciation for design. Prices for most shoe styles fall between $150 and $350, but we have gone a little higher for a few irresistible styles. We’ll have shoe designs we haven’t shown before, handtooled vintage handbags and antique jewelry we haven’t carried before.”

Some of the designers for the accessories include Rachel Comey, Chie Mihara, Marion Vidal, Eugenia Kim, and Doyle & Doyle.

The first of these new accessory retail spaces will open in Chevy Chase, MD. Unfortunately they have not decided on a name for the store yet, but we are guessing it will be classy and elegant, just like Anthropologie! We cannot wait to see these great spacing popping up in malls and on street corners!
