With babies on the way from major fashion noteworthies, Rachel Zoe ,Victoria Beckham, Marion Cotillard and Kate Hudson, I have to stop and ask myself…How are they going to dress these high fashion tots? I mean children’s fashion (which isn’t just for kids), has flown to new levels thanks to celeb babies like Suri Cruise and the Jolie-Pitt bunch. But are fashion houses going a little overboard dressing tots? I mean, kids grow super fast and aren’t exactly the cleanest, so why spend oodles of cash on their clothes? I was a little shocked to find baby Burberry jackets, Dior bibs and bottles, and Junior Gaultier clothes for pre-school aged tots. Really?...A baby in Dior? What happens when the kid spits up all over their fashionable bib? My mom would probably just use Tide, but I’m sure a nanny gently washes all this prized kiddy couture.

I really don’t know what to make of a world where there are kids dressing better than me and probably leading more exciting lives. Seriously, where are these pint-sized socialites jetting off to that they need to be dressed so fancy? Not to mention kids grow insanely fast, so these clothes don’t have anywhere near them same life cycle as adult-sized designer goods. Besides, I’m sure a hand me down Dior bib is considered so passe.

And baby Fendi shoes..? Uhhh…..let’s just say when I was kid, my shoes were anything but fancy. This whole baby couture situation doesn’t get any better with Burberry knickers (that’s what Brits call underwear). I’m sure we’re thinking the same thing here…the horror of a baby pooping in their Burberry bottoms. I’m not who would be more embarrassed the mom or the baby?….Actually it’s the mom, these babies don’t know what’s going on, nor do they know or care what Burberry is.

I guess with so many celebs getting knocked up this year, these baby goods may actually fly off the shelves. Would you dress your kid in couture or would you opt for some goods from your local Target?
