Fashion And Art Merge: Marchesa’s Magic Touch

Feb 17, 2011 By Amy

Every girl grows up dreaming about their perfect fairytale dress and Marchesa is a brand which represents each of those dreams. From romantic and whimsical, to daring and seductive, the line presented an eclectic presentation yesterday.

Upon arrival, guests were left waiting in line while celebrities like Vanessa Hudgens, Petra Nemcova, Eve, and Michelle Trachtenberg were swiftly ushered inside. Marchesa branded Range Rovers lined the streets; as they were the transportation of choice for all the VIP’s. After being checked in, show-goers were hoarded inside the biggest elevator I’ve ever been in and lifted up to the next floor. When the doors swung open the very New York crowd swooned over champagne, while I headed straight for the dresses (no time for drinks, this girl has places to be).

The collection commenced with bold reds and blacks with immaculate detailing, while the palette shifted through the presentation to reflect more neutral tones. With innovative silhouettesand textured pieces accented by bold sparkling jewelry- not to mention the Marchesa and Louboutin shoe collaboration- the looks brought nothing but gasps from the crowd.

A few dresses that I’ll continue to dream about from the show are the black lace number (above left), which was complimented by a long sheer head wrap. The dress itself was full of cutouts and perfectly fit the model. As well, the dress to right encompassed the ideal mixture of femininity and seductiveness.

To me, Marchesa is the perfect marriage of fashion and art. Many dresses took my breath away, while others consisted of new shapes and had an intriguing aspect, much like a timeless painting that I just wanted to stand there and stare at.
