Fashion Foreplay with Hervé Léger
Hervé Léger doesn’t need to buy me dinner first, because I’m ready to partake in some fashionable foreplay with the line’s fall 2011 collection. Scandalous bandage dresses, leather harnesses, and metal hardware were consistent throughout the show’s looks. Designer, Max Azria never holds back when creating the form-fitting risque garments the brand is known for.
Jumping right into the presentation, Model Monday favorite, Daphne Groenevel opened the show in a beige quilted leather jacket and bandage dress. I also watched Nimue Smit strut down the catwalk in a black and tan houndstooth print accented with gold hardware. Noteworthy models weren’t just on the runway, they were also front row. I spotted Leigh Lezark and Karolina Kurkova, as well as DJ, Harley Viera-Newton eagerly waiting the show’s start.
According to Hervé Léger, the dresses- which left nothing to imagination- were designed with a fearless and confident woman in mind. By fusing together the brand’s couture techniques to leather and metal hardware, Azria was able to create an “inimitable suit of armor.” Shades of beige, nutmeg, and brown were broken up with pops of cream and black throughout the collection. “Fearless and confident, she marches into the future, a modern ideal of feminine power” is how the brand sums up the ideal muse of the collection.
Besides the armor-like dresses, another fabulous detail which caught my eye was the slicked back hair of all the models. Theses tresses were created by hair stylist, Neil Moodie for Bumble and bumble. Each model was perfectly slick in the front and then their locks were straightened and left long in the back. Their faces appeared to be very clean and natural looking thanks to Lisa Butler of Temptu.
