Gucci’s Frida Giannini Has A Crush On Florence Welch
When I say Florence, I’m not talking about the dreamy Italian city, I’m referring to Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine (a regular on the MyFDB office playlist). And with Gucci celebrating their 90th anniversary with a runway full of glamorous gowns, I was curious to find out Creative Director Frida Giannini’s inspiration for the F/W collection came from Florence Welch and Anjelica Huston, as captured by photog Bob Richardson.
According to Style.com, “Giannini said the long dresses were the Florence Welch part of the equation, explaining that she could picture the chanteuse rocking one of them on stage.”
Overall the anniversary collection was the epitome of glamour with flowy gowns, colorful furs, fedoras, and dark hues layered with bold accent pieces. I love the deep red dress Chanel Iman is rocking above next to Haily Clauson’s fur-ocious purple coat. Abbey Lee Kershaw strutted down the runway in a bold yellow number with floral accents around the neck. Other models walking in the show include: Joan Smalls, Karmen Pedaru, Anja Rubik, Natasha Poly, and Daphne Groeneveld to name a few. I also liked the seductive deep red lipstick each model is adorned with.
Hmm…I wonder if we’ll be seeing Florence Welch wearing Gucci during her next tour? View more of the collection in the image gallery below
