Directives West First.LA Fashion Show
Yesterday team MyFDB made our way to Downtown LA for the Directives West First.LA fashion show, which is part of Los Angeles Fashion Week. Yes…LA has a fashion week; it’s small, but growing.
Upon arrival at the event we caught up with stylist Laurie Brucker, who was chosen as one of the three style setters for the event. Along with editor, Erin Weinger of StyleSectionLA and blogger, Hellin Kay of Champagne and Heels, these three style setters each partnered with an LA-based brand showing at Directives West to style their runway looks. Laurie partnered with Dolan, Erin with Kolae, and Hellin with 50 Dresses.
Typically you save the best for last, however this presentation opened with a stellar new fall 2011 collection from Whitney Port‘s Whitney Eve line. I must say the looks were fashion forward with tribal prints in oranges, black & white, and blue- it was all around the most cohesive collection in the group. Whitney Eve was by far the MyFDB favorite with bold orange trouser pants and tribal accented pieces, I could easily wear the clothes to the office and quickly transition them for going out! Not to mention, the looks were paired with brightly colored patent pumps in red and green, which only added to the pizazz of Port’s line.
Another brand to take notice of was Dolan! This collection embraced popular accents like sequins and fur, but presented
themin a new way. A MyFDB favorite piece included a grey top with brown fur sleeves. I also loved a tweed blazer, which looked like it was super comfy and the fitted slate grey skirts from the line.Other brands showing at Directives West included: YuYu, Tiwnkle by Wenlan, James | Icon, Hazel, 50 Dresses, Kolae, J Brand Jeans, Imposter, and Dolce Cabo.
