Sylvester Stallone Plans To Knock Out Menswear
Better known as “Rocky” or “Rambo” actor Sylvester Stallone is shying away from the camera and moving towards the sewing machine. The action hero is planning on launching a menswear line appropriately titled, “Stallone” which is set to debut in 2012.
According to WWD, Stallone said the first time he personally became “truly involved in style,” was between “Rambo 2” and “Rambo 3” when he underwent a “huge weight change,” dropping from 185 to 160 pounds. “Nothing fit so I started buying custom clothing. I found out I really like this world.”
Stallone added, “I pay a great deal of attention to the way I dress. When men learn to put things together, they start taking care of themselves better.”
Stallone is an unlikely contender in the celebrity clothing line battle, with everyone from P. Diddy (does he still go by that name?) to Jessica Simpson and J. Lo, trying out their design skills the actor has some competition. Personally I feel the Stallone brand will be successful based on his fan base. All of us women may end up thanking him for setting a new style example for all the clueless guys out there. Besides, when I think of a stylish man a Rocky or Rambo fan hardly comes to mind. Actually I’ve never seen Rambo, but anyone who gets themselves into a custom-made, well tailored piece of clothing knows good fashion!
With Stallone’s best known characters being urban, his clothing line will appeal to a broad audience. I’ll be interested to see where he ends up selling it, I have a feeling Macy’s will swoop in on this brand, since they already carry a ton of celebrity lines. The clothing line is definitely for the greater- trying to get men to dress better!
