Wide Legs & Bright Hues: The Seventies Strike Back
Oodles of magazines come into MyFDB headquarters but one of my favorites has be the French publication, Jalouse. The mag is full of high fashion imagery mixed with raw, sexy photographs. I also admire how they continue to include models on their covers, as opposed to sticking with celebs like US mags. Their latest issue showcases gorgeous model, Marloes Horst on their cover, plus they dedicate a 13-page spread to her with the editorial, “Drole de Dame”- that’s Francais for “Funny Girl.”
With the mag toting, “1977 Quand Tout a Commence” on their cover, which translates to “1977 When it All Started,” I feel like Horst’s shoot encompasses many seventies-esque looks including wide-legged pants, bright hued and floral prints, and large eyeglasses. I also really like the layering of the different garment textures by stylist, Sébastien Cambos.
Also, note the lighting contrast in the different shots from photographer, Mason Poole. Black and white, dark backgrounds, and bright shots make up this editorial.
