MaxMara’s Color-blocked Camel Toe

May 23, 2011 By Amy

I’m not referring “camel toe” in the ill-fitting sense; I’m talking about Max Mara‘s use of the camel hue in their resort 2012 collection…the shade is everywhere all the way down to the toes with camel colored shoes.

According to WWD, the looks were inspired by, “Jean-Luc Godard’s “Breathless” and infused with Bianca Jagger’s seventies sportswear style.” Considering the collection is for resort-a time that’s supposed to represent vacations and sunshine- the pieces look like they’d be better suited for a fall presentation. The pieces eventually progress from browns to whites to black and are very minimalistic, but I do like the touches of flair to the garments thanks to color-blocked sleeves. There is one climax to the collection: a pink flowy floral, which obviously stands out paired amongst the rest of the collection.

Clearly Max Mara left us a little puzzled this season, but I would certainly rock the looks in the fall (maybe they’ll even be on sale by then).
