Victoria by Victoria Beckham: For the Pregnant Woman in Everyone

Jun 30, 2011 By Vaneza

In all sadness, it breaks my heart to think that or anyone born after the year 1994 will only know Victoria Beckham as a fashion designer and not Posh Spice and now the mother to be (pregnant with her fourth childfinally a girl!) has followed in the footsteps of designers Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs with the launch of her lower priced line, Victoria by Victoria Beckham. The collection is due for spring 2012 and Beckham attributes knowing the sex of her baby to influencing her design choices.

The looks were also inspired by the dark cartoon character Emily the Strange…wait, what? Was Beckham slightly hormonal when this vision came to mind? Is it just me or does that character and inspiration seem a little…well, off brand? I can’t help but think of weird teenagers coming out of Hot Topic whenever I think of Emily the Strange.

And as for the designs, the more I look at the collection, the more I can’t help but wonder if the pieces were designed for pregnant women? Bright bubbly numbers in simple cuts…that hide the tummy? For the price the pieces are selling at (between $550 and $900), one can only hope the dresses work wonders for women, pregnant or not.

What do you think?
