Halston is Sinking Like The Titanic
First it was announced that Sarah Jessica Parker was out as chief creative officer, and now two more players have jumped off the sinking ship that is Halston. Investor and Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has officially severed all ties with the company along with creative director Marios Schwab (pictured below), whose contract isn’t being renewed. Weinstein doesn’t need Halston anyway, as he’s making more money with his wife Georgina‘s company, Marchesa.
Sadly the news only gets worse for Halston, according to WWD, “Halston will not produce a collection for spring 2012, and it remains unclear whether the fall 2011 collection will be delivered to stores. Halston is expected to focus on its secondary Halston Heritage line instead.”
The company has been struggling for awhile, but shifts this dramatic don’t boad well for the brand’s already faulty reputation. Three major contributors gone within one week isn’t communicating, “Don’t worry guys, we’re still good!” to their customers.
Sadly, what was once one of America’s great hertiage brands is drowning. Norwegian founder, Roy Halston Frowlick, whose creations were once worn by the likes of Bianca Jagger, Elizabeth Taylor, and Lauren Hutton, would be very disappointed with his fashion legacy’s current state.
