Japan Fashion Week Gets A Little Help
The devastation that occurred in Tokyo after last year’s earthquake and tsunami affected everyone, including the fashion industry, which left many designers unable to show their collections.
But now it appears as if Tokyo and Japan Fashion Week are coming back with help from Mercedes-Benz. Fashion week organizers and the company have signed a “multi-year agreement with Mercedes-Benz who has sponsored New York’s collections since 2001.” According to WWD, head of sales/marketing and vice president of Mercedes-Benz Japan Kintaro Ueno called the Japan collections the “greatest” in Asia. In a press release he said “Fashion and automobiles are similar in that they are both a “way to express your own sense of style’” and we couldn’t agree more!
The next show will start the week of October 13th and has been renamed “Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo.”
