Sarah Jessica Parker Dumps Halston Heritage, Or So We Think…
If there’s any truth in the saying that ‘all good things must come to an end’, then fashion icon-mother-actress Sarah Jessica Parker knows this well… And she’s gone through this not once, but at twice with the finale of HBO’s critically acclaimed Sex and the City, and most recently by ending her position as chief creative officer for Halston Heritage.
About a year and a half ago, the brand which was founded by Harvey Weinstein and run by Bonnie Takhar began to struggle. Parker signed on and within six months, Takhar was out (hmm interesting…) and less than a year after Weinstein also left to seek new investors. The main line and the lower-priced line have since then been faced with multiple hardships. And although it did well as the promotional-tie in for the Sex and the City 2 film, Parker’s contract was not renewed. So why has it taken this long for the things to become “official”? Perhaps Parker was waiting to break news about the break up in conjuction with her August Vogue cover and the promotion of her new film I Don’t Know How She Does It.
And what does Halston have to say about all this? ”It’s a very complicated structure and dynamic at the board level,” a source told WWD. Sounds a little vague, no? Guess we’ll just have to wait for the truth to come out…eventually.
