Candela F/W 2012 Presentation: Rustic Glamour

Feb 10, 2012 By Editor

Candela Fall 2012

Yesterday New York Fashion Week commenced with a powerful first day. Inaugurating the opening festivities for the MyFDB team was the Candela Fall/Winter 2012 Presentation. The twelve looks of the collection were sprinkled amidst a picturesque and pastoral rugged wood structure, perhaps reminiscent of a gold mine.  Rich bushels of fall flowers burst from the base of the arrangement bringing a textural, natural impression to the environment. The rustic and country setting was appropriately complimentary of the collection, which represented an exquisite merger between provincial simplicity and sophisticated, glistening glamour.

Attention to detail is certainly an important aspect of Candela’s brand as well as the presentation itself. The craftsmanship of the garments was radiantly produced and displayed. Similarly the specifics for creating the aesthetic of the event was heavily considered. Wafting earthy hippie music and drinks served out of campy tins were charming features of the presentation. The fabrics used in the collection reflected the Fall/Winter season with wool, knits, and velvet finding themselves commingled with delicate silks, and sheer chiffon. Sequin and lace pieces added lux elements to the collection. The territory below the ankle was not to be ignored, either. Velvet loafers seemed a pervasive staple item in the ensembles. Suede loafers, leather ankleboots, and the other similar footwear delights were placed delicately amongst the wildflower foliage or creatively hung on beams encompassing the display integrally with the fashion. Victorian look lace up ankle boots also made for inspired footwear that went well with the clothing. The styling of the models with a lightly smoky eye, stained plum lips, and tousled, unencumbered hair- some bursting with fall blooms complimented the sundry nature of the garments- another merger that characterized the polished yet earthy attitude of the presentation.

Thought the collection was comprised of only 12 looks, it was certainly an illustration of the idea of quality over quantity. These Ready-to-Wear pieces consisted of a vast range of wearability. With the inclusion of stunning items such as an incredible navy sequin baby doll dress, a hand beaded plum mini-skirt, and gasp-worthy, must-have three quarter sleeved black lace sheer dress, there involved sophisticated evening attire. But simultaneously casual sweaters, day dresses, and trousers brought an accessibility in the variety of the assortment.

An inspirational quote on the program for the presentation seems to offer a fine summation of the enchanting and wondrous vibe that Candela has created with its Fall/Winter 2012 collection. “Already the gold mines were beginning to be felt. Many people were then encamped, some going and some coming, all full of gold stories and each-surpassing the other.” With this quote, the rustic and pioneer aspects of the collection can be fully understood but it also can be said for sure that this Fall/Winter Candela struck gold.
