Sneak Peak at Daphne Guinness Auction for Christie’s
Get a sneak peak at some noteworthy auction pieces from the wardrobe of the notorious Daphne Guinness. The heiress announced in March that she would be donating 100 of her own garments with proceeds benefitting the Isabella Blow Foundation. However, Guinness will not be lacking for fashion. She is rumored to posses nearly 2,500 garments, 450 pairs of shoes, 200 handbags, and 70 hats. Pieces from well-known houses such as Chanel, Prada, and Gucci will be present in the collection and although the e-catalogue will not be released until May, several stunning items have been revealed early.
Amongst the couture being auctioned are many iconic pieces such as architectural platform shoes by Norita Tatehana, and a bubble frock by famed French designer, Christian LaCroix. As well as an early dress by Christopher Kane about which Christie’s comments: ‘Having heard about the wonderful new British talent that was Christopher Kane, Daphne visited his shop, saw this dress, and immediately fell in love with it,’ One of the biggest gems of the auction, and is thought to be the most expensive, would have to be a structured silver mini-dress designed by Alexander McQueen, who was a close friend of Guinness. The auction items will be displayed from June 23-27 in the London Christies so feel free to window shop or to drop a few [thousand] pounds on a piece of Daphne Guinness history.
