This year at Cannes, the continuing theme of drama and theatricality reigned supreme in the gowns on the red carpet. Neutrals, white, metallic, and beaded/sequin embellishments remained a motif in the evening wear for this year as we had first seen at the Met Gala. Diane Kruger never fails to express her exquisite eye for intriguing fashion. Moving from a Versace day dress with side cut outs and lacings to an impeccably glamorous Vivienne Westwood gold evening gown, her ability to hit the mark every time has gained her the title of number one best dressed for this year. Other notable looks were Fan Bing Bing’s Elie Saab gown with stunning attached cape, Freida Pinto’s sweet and chic Ferragamo two-piece day outfit, and Tilda Swinton in a subtle but daring bronze Haidar Ackermann gown.
