It’s no secret that Vogue‘s around the world occasionally favor certain models over others, however to dedicate an entire issue to one is an extreme rarity. The name Catherine McNeil, may not roll of your tongue as a top model stateside, but in other parts of the globe she’s a big deal. This Aussie-born beauty gained momentum when Mario Testino signed her to exclusive contracts with Vogue British and Vogue Paris early in her career. Since then McNeil has triumphed the industry from ad campaigns to runway, so it’s no wonder Vogue Australia is paying homage to their successful native with an entire September issue dedicated to the beauty. We can’t wait to get more McNeil in our database, so we’re highly anticipating the mag’s arrival!

We’re currently gazing the six editorials in their latest issue, but our favorite is titled, Visage, and we’re pretty sure the use of shadows is why we’re coveting the images. Great artistic work by photographer, Marcus Palmqvist. This spread evokes some serious fashionizing, but we’re suddenly getting the urge to make shadow puppets. Another fresh face to MyFDB’s publications list is Glass magazine. We admire how they manage to successfully merge culture, art, and style into a seasonal book, not to mention they have noteworthy photographers and writers working as contributors. Alas, lets focus on one of their editorials that caught our eyes, this “There is no remedy for love but to love more” spread has us yearning to be wrapped in pearls. Then again who wouldn’t want to be rolled in pearls and placed in sexy scenes that echo a boudoir?

We’re all over this racy cover of L’Officiel Hommes Paris‘ June/July issue that stars model, Andrès Velencosco. The exercise inspired shoot, “I can’t get you out of my head” that follows was photographed and styled by Milan Vukmirovic (talk about multitasking). There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding this Miu Miu dress, which graced recent covers of Vogue British, W, and Elle UK. The dress obviously looked stunning on the runway, so editors were eager to pull it for their cover shoots. Of course, the odds of a Miu Miu dress (or any brand’s dress) landing three covers simultaneously is extremely rare.

This occurrence has left a lot of readers wondering, “How did this happen?” and ”How are cover looks chosen?” This sparked Elle UK‘s Editor-in-Chief, Lorraine Candy to explain how a dress goes from runway to cover sensation.

“We first see the look on the runway and note it down as a possible for a cover shoot. When we’re back in the office, we call it in and match it to the right star. Contrary to popular belief, we don’t shoot covers in sequence. If it fits the mood board concept of the cover shoot and the photographer likes it, we take it to the shoot along with a rail of potential clothes.”

“When we saw this Miu Miu dress on the runway in Paris we knew we had to have it for a cover this year and August, the first new season cover, seemed the perfect fit. It ticks all the boxes for an ELLE cover; it’s feminine and sexy but modern too. I love a playful element on a cover as it appeals to the ELLE reader who doesn’t take herself so seriously. A cover dress should inspire you with the mood of the month and this one does.”

We’re huge fans of Karlie Kloss in the office as is Vogue; the mag used the young supermodel in an incredible blast-from-the-past editorial aptly titled, “Classic Revival” for their August issue. With photography by Raymond Meier and makeup from Lisa Houghton, Kloss makes us want to go back in time when everyone always presented themselves in a chic manner. We’re huge fan’s of Dior and John Galliano, so we were floored when we saw this huge couture editorial in Crash mag. Photographer, Sam Samore was able to capture quick snaps backstage at one of the brand’s couture shows. We love how he features the fanciful hair and makeup of the models. These haute looks were created by renowned makeup artist, Pat McGrath and hair stylist, Orlando Pita.
