It’s not just scantily clad models gracing ad campaigns and editorials these days, it’s the designers themselves. From Marc Jacobs to Tom Ford, these men have been known to bare it all for the sake of their brands. These strikingly fit men have no shyness about nudity and embrace the camera. Designers are the epitome of their brand, so seems only natural for them to go au natural for the greater good.

According to WWD, “For both designer and consumer, fashion is about exhibitionism. “Look at my stuff.” “Look at me wearing his stuff.” For the designer, it’s about baring all: one’s talent, ambition, drive, dreams. When a designer shows a collection, he is out there, naked, for the world to weigh in.”

Many of the designers who have taken the nude plunge are no strangers to the press. Who was the first to take it all of?

The great Yves Saint Laurent, who posed for his own YSL Pour Homme ad in 1971. “It’s created a lot of stir, and that’s why I did it,” he told WWD at the time, noting that the sphere of backlight encircling his head added “a biblical quality.” “No shortage of ego there, or guts — two essential traits in fashion” reports Bridget Foley of WWD.

[via WWD]

Over at MyFDB we’re huge fans of tweeting, but we’ve noticed that with the rise of the social media platform there’s been controversy over some tweets — especially those from the fashion elite. Many haute users have put their personal antics on the Twittersphere which may or may not interest you. Fashion related tweets aside, do we care about someone getting their morning espresso or fitting in a quick yoga class before heading out? Probably not, but these harmless tweets can easily transform into something more controversial.

After the Marc Jacobs show in New York Robert Duffy, the brand’s Chief Executive, tweeted about a nude party guest enjoying a lively fashion week after-party. This seemingly playful tweet caught on like wildfire and drew a lot of criticism Duffy’s way. However, Duffy has deleted his Twitter account, but prior to the incident he was known for tweeting up a storm. As reported by The Wall Street Journal, “Mr. Duffy tweeted impromptu photos of Mr. Jacobs, using his gold iPhone. Soon, he was fielding queries from clients and fashion students each morning while working out on his exercise bike. “All I do is answer questions,” Mr. Duffy said. He explained how to get handbags repaired, or where to find rare sizes. He discovered a huge client base in Brazil of which he hadn’t been aware.” This demonstrates how the platform realistically bridges the gap between management and consumers.

Other influential Twitter users like Stefano Gabbana (@stefanogabbana) tweet constantly with personal and fashionable updates. From work in his office to radiant beaches and snowy slopes you can follow Gabbana’s image tweets on Yfrog. WWD recently put up some of the top tweets from fashion week. Stylist, Rachel Zoe (@rzRachelZoe) wasn’t shy about venting her Milan traffic frustrations when she tweeted: “Have no words for the Milan Gridlock just missed Prada and so carsick! 1 1/2 hours to go 10 miles..why does LA get such a bad rap???” As an LA-based company we completely agree with her on that one.

Hopefully these sharply dressed tweeters have learned from the social media mistakes of others, so their tweets stay controversy free. Obviously Twitter isn’t just a trend, it’s sticking around and we must continue adapting the social media site to our professional and personal needs.

What do you guys think? Anyone suffering from Twitter TMI?

We have a limited number of tickets, so this will be on a first in, first win basis. Please be certain you can attend the 7pm showing before you email, and use the subject line Tickets to Nine in your email so we can get back to you as soon as possible.
