After seeing Sarah Burton’s striking RTW men’s looks for Alexander McQueen, we were even more excited to see her cruise collection creations. Burton brought out some McQueen staples including strong shoulders, textured materials, and bold looks with inspiration drawn from samurai warriors and Hans Bellmer’s dolls.

Burton told WWD, she wanted to “juxtapose the pale and the delicate with the bold and armorial. It’s about a highly structured torso that gives way to a more fluid silhouette or drop waists that lead to a finned trouser or skirt.”

Versace‘s 2011 cruise collection has a modern feel with a simple color palate. Donatella Versace told WWD she channeled a “new easiness in a fresh mood with micro prints in lilac, orange or white and graphic black elements.” The collection has an easy going feel to it, while the laced-up heels give each look an edgier presentation.

Our favorites include the long lilac dress and the patterned micro mini below. Also, note the pastel purple-poutted punch each model is rocking. Do you think this will start a trend like Prada’s orange lip did?

Louis Vuitton‘s 2011 cruise collection is feminine with glamorous accents and pastel hues.

Designer, Marc Jacobs created resort looks which encompass a retro feel while embracing prints without being over frou frou.  “A little bit Lolita” was how Louis Vuitton style director Julie de Libran described Marc Jacobs’ resort lineup.

Missoni is never boring! We’re loving the bold colors and prints from their cruise 2011 collection. It’s clear how Angela Missoni developed the looks with African inspiration in mind, given the bold color combos and motifs. We’re also a huge fan of the bangles and head wear complimenting each look.

One of our favorites is Moschino Cheap & Chic. Their cruise looks highlight bold accented garments that can be worn day and night. This perfectly reflects their sophisticated followers and their collection has the right amount of youthfulness.

We also checked out Bottega Veneta‘s cruise collection which brings us bold hues coupled with muted colors and shapes. Some of our must haves include the white dress to the very left followed by the blue and red-orange top. We love how they bring non-traditional focal points to RTW clothing.

Escada‘s resort looks are a blend of florals with Japanese style. Highlights like kimono sleeves and robe-like dresses are consistent throughout the new collection. The pastel floral skirts and bold tops are strong summer staples.
