The venue’s large open space was soon filled with fashion forward guests including Anna Dello Russo, Carine Roitfeld, the youthful Julia Restoin Roitfeld, and Franca Sozzani. Bloggers Bryan Boy and Susie Bubble were spotted and of course Rumi Neely wasn’t too far behind. A few minutes prior to the show’s commencement, Gerard Butler was escorted from backstage and the photogs (and females) went crazy.

Once the show commenced thunderous beats turned eyes to the catwalk where heavy metal metallics were all the rage. Arising from backstage silver metallics were taking over; the men’s and women’s looks we’re so bold they couldn’t be ignored. A plethora of silver metallic pieces were followed by pink and forest green reflecting garments. The detailing was a real stand out, as were the shoes which brought the metallic trend to the toes. Like shards of glass coming at you, each new ensemble was breathtaking and inspiring– which is exactly what the collection intended to do.

“As the world becomes increasingly complex, Diesel Black Gold’s new collection proposes light and reason. Fashion becomes utilitarian and optimistic. Instead of looking inward, it sets out to explore.” said the brand.

Models Erjona Ala, Karmen Pedaru, Maryna Linchuk, and Kate King were glistening in the metallic clothing. Their natural hair and makeup looks were done by industry dream team, makeup artist Pat McGrath and hair stylist extraordinaire Guido Paulo.

It appeared as if hundreds were trying to get into Diesel Black Gold‘s runway show today at Pier 94, because the huge space way beyond packed with guests. Team MyFDB had great seats within the space and spotted more than a few familiar faces at the show. Joe Zee walked in with a smoothie in hand (hey, he’s gotta eat too), while one of my fashion icons, Anna Dello Russo was spotted front row in a gold fringed top and what appeared to be leather pants. Blogger Bryan Boy arrived early, but he wasn’t the only one. We spotted Vanessa Hudgens and Chace Crawford entering the show together and heading backstage before it even began. Hmm..a new romance perhaps?

The runway was somewhat of a geometric maze as models literally weaved through an audience that were seated in various square formations and platform. This was awesome because it created more front row opportunities and made for better viewing of the clothes. The music, a hard type of rock with a violin accompaniment, blared loudly as models fiercely walked down the runway. I even spotted previous Model Monday beauties, Bambi Northwood-Blyth and Arizona Muse working the runway. The looks were very tough and consisted of a lot of leather, denim, with pieces which were deconstructed and almost dirty looking. Models rocked extreme side parts to unkempt hair and charcoal eyes with light pink lips.

My favorite look was a black suit in leather, as well as, the pairing of corsets over dark patterned flowy dresses. According to the brand, the pieces in the collection consisted of “shapes layer fluid silhouettes and structured jackets, with the wilder touch of constructed bustiers. Blazons become patterns, modern symbols of a timeless style.”

Models who strutted to the beat of the music had major attitude…They were tough and so is Deisel Black Gold’s latest collection.
