Yanez, whose background is a mix of Spanish, Italian and Irish, has been modeling for over a decade walking runways, appearing in commercials and posing for several shoots including brands such as Donna Karan, Rock & Republic, Sean John and Calvin Klein. We recently got the chance to speak with Tosh about his career.

How did you get your start in modeling?
I’ve been modeling for over a decade now. I was “discovered” by the editor of Teen Magazine. I portrayed the token boyfriend in all their editorials.
Are there any current or upcoming projects we can see you in?
I just shot my second commercial for L’Oreal Paris. It stars one of my favorite supermodels, Laetita Casta. It was our second time filming together. I’m really excited about this one because it is so sexy. We filmed it in an ultra modern home in Joshua Tree, California. In one scene, it begins to rain inside the house. We both run outside of the house. It then cuts to a scene of us soaking wet and she begins to seduce me. It was very sexy!

What’s been your favorite shoot to the date and why? One of my favorite shoots I’ve done is a campaign I did for Donna Karan. I was able to work with the legendary Kate Moss. Kate was a fantastic counter part. I found her to be both sexy and funny. She [was] like a grown up little girl…always looking to have fun. I spent Halloween with her in Hollywood a couple years ago, I must say it was a night I will never forget!
Since you’ve worked with several supermodels/fashion icons, have you ever been “star struck”? Working with photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot was pretty exciting for me. These guys are living legends in the fashion world. They have shot every supermodel and celebrity for major campaigns. It was an honor to be in front of their lens.
As a male model, do feel the same pressure as females in the industry in regards to image?
I do feel certain pressures in this industry. Since I started modeling, I’ve had to change my diet greatly. I used to live on fast food. HAHA! Those days are gone. Nowadays it’s all about keeping the six pack. I sometimes feel like I live at the gym.

If you were not pursuing a modeling career, what would you be doing?
I’ve learned a lot from this industry. I’ve learned to appreciate some of the behind the scenes aspects of photo shoots. I would love to be an art director or cinematographer one day.
Have you been to any interesting destinations for shoots?
I recently traveled to Greece. It was amazing! The people, the culture, the food. It was like going back in time.

Lastly, what advice do you have for fashion industry hopefuls?
My advice for anyone pursuing a career in fashion modeling is to stay focused and believe in yourself. It does take a lot of dedication to be a model. The hours are tough and there is a lot of travel involved. Also, one must remember that rejection is a huge part of this industry. You will not book every single job, but then again, no one does. It’s just how the industry works. If you get signed with a strong agency, stay focused and work hard, in time, you will see the payoff.

Great advice Tosh, we couldn’t agree more! Thanks once again for taking the to chat with MyFDB.

According to WWD, Donna Karan of DKNY launched her new e-commerce site today. The new site takes a “content-meets-commerce approach.” The website and designer is partnering with New York Magazine as a source of inspiration and a total re-branding of the DKNY New York lifestyle and energy. This is the first time she is selling the Donna Karan Collection and the DKNY line simultaneously as the new site allows visitors to easily scroll and shop between both.

Parker is a strong representation of today’s current feminine fashions. While not all of us are well-heeled with Choo’s or Manolo’s, Parker does present a certain all-American grace that fashion has fallen in love with.

When talking about the lovely SJP, Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton said, “She is such a style icon, but apart from that, she is very adaptable in terms of the clothes she wears. She is somebody who costumes herself into roles. When you think of Sarah Jessica Parker, you almost think of a flapper, because she has this remarkable joie de vivre about her.”

Parker is willing to experiment with fashion, plus she has a look that allows her to chameleon other eras while remaining a modern role model.

If Parker doesn’t embody your representation of an American woman’s style today, we think The Met Exhibit and Gala will bring forth some great examples, whilst paying homage to the evolution of fashion and women in America. As reported by, WWD, the new showcase will house purpose-built circular galleries that set the stage for different American archetypes since 1890: The “Gibson Girl,” the “Bohemian,” the “Suffragist” and “Patriot,” “Flappers,” the “Screen Siren,” and, finally, a look at the faces of American women from the 1890s through now.

“The American style has absolutely cultivated itself,” said Donna Karan by way of WWD, who herself, with her iconic seven easy pieces, has come to define one facet of it. “You see this effortlessness of individuality and comfort, which I think comes from the legacy of the blue jeans. When you think of America, you think of T-shirts and blue jeans.”

However, Barneys Creative Director, Simon Doonan, isn’t all that thrilled with American style at the moment. Doonan told WWD, “I don’t know how well it serves women, when you think about the world of breast implants, and fake hair and fake tans and fake everything that are a dominant feature of our culture right now. Maybe now is a great time to reflect on the more nuanced archetypes in history.”

Judge the progression of American style for yourself, this new display will be open for viewing from May 5 to August 15 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the famous Gala Benefit lands on May 3rd.
