Green makes a surprising appearance in this “From Russia with Love” editorial by Elle. Since we’re getting in the spirit of fall, we’re all about adding to our wardrobe with new darker hues and there’s nothing like a trip to Moscow to help liven our fall fashion senses. Of course we are s-l-o-w-l-y leading into the season after all, as the sun is out and there’s no snow in any of these shots. We meet gorgeous long haired, Leila Jay, who puts on a show with some haute poses in looks styled by fashion crush Joe Zee. Her leggy look above is very Jolly Green Giant meets high fashion and we love it. This leafy green shade wasn’t exactly on our radar before for autumn, but it is now. Each shot has some sort of green element in the clothing… Greens are healthy for you after all.

Stylish duds and  haute ad campaigns have come to help define this member of the Armani family and 2011 marks the thirtieth year luxury line Emporio Armani has been in business. Elle magazine is celebrating this milestone, not with bright colors and flashy shoot, but instead by going all black for an editorial titled, “The Color of Night.” And yes, the shoot is literally just that. Shot by photographer Thomas Whiteside, the images are VERY dark and mysterious.

Stylist Kate Lanphear pulled an A-list noir cast of dark essentials for stunning brunette Egle Tvirbutaite, which will make you want to go over to the dark side. While classic black never goes out of style, I would’ve liked to have seen at least one crisp ivory piece make its way into the shoot. This is a celebration not a funeral after all.

If there’s one month I really look forward to it’s definitely September…not only does the first of the month mark my birthday, but it’s almost always followed by a long weekend full of friends, family, BBQ’s and infinite trips to the beach in honor of Labor Day. And that’s not all…Fashion Week also happens to take place mid month…not too bad right? And although September issues generally hit newsstands in August, I do get excited…

…That was, until, I saw Elle‘s latest issue with Gwyneth Paltrow on the cover. Really? And why? I know she has a new film coming out this month, but still I remained optimistic about her matching editorial shot by Carter Smith being better. Alas I was presented with disappointment. It’s just Paltrow smiling or wandering off into space… Joe Zee, what were you thinking?

I’m sure you’ve all seen the movie The September Issue, which skyrocketed Anna Wintour to even greater heights and put the making of a magazine’s biggest annual issue on camera. So we wanted to show off some of the Sept covers which have made their way into the office. There’s the highly anticipated shot of newlywed Kate Moss in Vogue, Beyonce covering InStyle, and Gwyenth Paltrow gracing Elle‘s cover. Not to mention the haute shots in the gallery below. Where the covers for May were s-e-x-y, the cover ladies of this month lacked cohesion or any sort of theme. They still looked good…but different. There was an all white-clad Raquel Zimmermann for Vogue Brasil to a sultry and noir-like Rachel Adams for Elle and lastly a very youthful looking Olivia Wilde (who is actually only 3 years away from 30) for Glamour’s cover.

Our least favorites were Fergie on the cover of Lucky (blame it on the crazy dress and her caught off guard expression…) and Alexa Chung on the cover of Vogue British for being the opposite of Fergie’s crazy dress; boooring and bland.

And now without further ado, time for the men’s magazines of June…and is it ironic that our favorite cover actually features a female? Yup, you heard right…Model turned actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s cover for GQ British looks stunning…while vampire Alexander Skarsgar is featured on the cover of GQ and the Green Lantern aka Ryan Reynolds is on the cover of Details. The only other cover we find slightly amusing is Esquire’s because, well come on, it’s Bradley Cooper…in somewhat of a compromising position in a sexy suit, need we say more?

Recently, we told you that Victoria’s Secret angel Lily Aldrigde tied the knot to lead singer Caleb Followill of Kings of Leon, but it appears as if Miss Followill never took a honeymoon because all of a sudden the happy bride is in Elle‘s latest editorial titled “Mysterious Skin”…and rightfully so, because the looks she rocks picked by stylist Kate Lanphear are all about sheerness and drapiness. How perfect is the sheer number by Yves Saint Laurent? It’s sexy while also leaving a lot to the imagination…

It seems that lines and stripes are making quite the appearance for the Spring season. We recently told you about models stripping for stripes but you won’t find model Annaleise Clare Smith getting naked in the latest editorial titled “Everything On The Line” for Elle. Instead Smith rocks striped pieces by designers such as Jil Sander, Prada and Dries Van Noten chosen by stylist Samira Nasr. Shot by Serge Leblon, the spread has a nautical feel to it along with a touch of modern cubism as stripes and lines are also present as part of the background for the shoot.

Flipping through the pages of the latest Elle, I couldn’t help but have a mean case of “fashion deja-vu”…Like that black and yellow Prada hat I keep seeing in editorial after editorial, the Jil Sander skirt above keeps re-appearing and not just in my dreams (it was featured on the MyFDBlog last week and was first seen in last month’s Vogue British)! I love it’s color (also HUGE for the Spring) and the cut of the piece.

I also find it crazy that fashion editor, Kate Phelan and stylists, Mel Ottenberg and Lester Garcia somehow managed to style the skirts in the same exact way- with a white t-shirt! The only thing setting the looks apart are the accessories, a silver purse instead of a statement necklace and perhaps the messy hair on Freja…interesting…Which look do you like best?!

It’s no secret that Team MyFDB totally looks forward to Wednesday night television. After all one of our favorites, Modern Family comes on and we have no shame in saying that we have yet to miss an episode! Who doesn’t love the fact that the show is very much like our own modern family…and then there’s the charming Phil Dunphy who we think is the epitome of adorable in terms of husband material!

Now, Elle‘s latest issue rightfully dubbed the “television issue” features the lovely Sofia Vergara and Ed O’Neill of Modern Family along with some of television’s other stars. There’s Rachel Zoe and her hubby, Rodger Berman who are getting ready to start their own family, along with Ginnifer Goodwin and Chloë Sevigny to name a few!

PR maven and MTV’s The City star, Erin Kaplan is jumping ship from Elle to Teen Vogue. Why? Probably because unlike other pseudo-reality stars, Kaplan actually had a REAL job (Public Relations Director for Elle) with important responsibilities. Given her professional role on The City and her TV likability factor, she’s sure to be a hit with Amy Astley and the whole Teen Vogue crew where she’ll start as the Senior Public Relations Director. Rumor has it that Teen Vogue has a new reality type TV show in the works, making Kaplan an even better score for the publication.

The real question is: What is Elle going do to? Who is going to take care of Joe Zee, according to his tweet, “no one can replace Erin.” But, I don’t think anyone else can babysit socilate contributors like Olivia Palermo either…

We’ll have to wait and see what happens over at Elle, but kudos congratulations to Erin and her rising career!
