Are those flowers in your hair or are you just happy to see me? Supermodel cover girls were beautified for a makeup and hair spread in Vogue Paris. Simply titled, “Cover Girls” (which is what they all are) readers get up close with the faces of Natasha Poly, Isabeli Fontana, Izabel Goulart, Karolina Kurkova, Arizona Muse (pictured), and Hanaa Ben Abdesslem. The shoot may remind of those days when you used to play dress up and get all fancy with your hair and makeup. The girls each take on a lively persona for photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

Cosmetic-wise nude lips and faces are seen throughout a few of the shots and sultry orange pout makes its way into two shots, which we love. Thank you makeup artist, Lisa Butler.

Like most names in fashion, you never really know what to expect from Daphne Guinness when she arrives at an event. She flocked to the Met Gala in an uber-feathered gown and got ready for by dressing in a window. Now her fashion antics are moving from her outfits to her face. Guinness’ highly anticipated line for MAC Cosmetics has been unveiled, and while we love her outrageousness, we’re thrilled her collection is composed of a color palate that seems wearable by regular people, like us. The pieces are comprised of basic noir, soft blushes, feminine lip glosses, and liners. We’re most excited for the purple hues! Shades of purple allow us to be daring without appearing too over the top. The collection amounts to 21-units all together.  WWD describes the colors as ”shades…made up of rich, seasonal hues.”

The MAC collection will be available December 26th, which is strange because you’d think MAC would what to release it before the Christmas holiday, not after. But, come January the entire collection will rollout internationally.

Makeup went on overload for this Allure editorial featuring model crushes Hailey Clauson and Daphne Groeneveld. Entitled, “Look Sharp” the girls appear uber seductive thanks to enormous pouty lips with exaggerated eyeshadow and mega cheek color.  Makeup artist Tom Pecheux invented four difference cosmetic looks for the shoot, which were captured by Mario Testino. I’m surprised they didn’t mix up the poses more, because each shot feels a little too similar to the last. The pair are close together wearing fabulous clothes that we’re yearning to see more, but we get it…the focus is on the makeup.

The beauty takeaway from this editorial? More is more! Don’t be afraid of a bold lip or to emphasize your cheekbones. And of course, eye color is always welcome! Adding a playful element to the shoot, in each picture one of the girls is holding a beauty tool, which she’s ready to use on the other. Be sure to notice the syringe, teeth whitening laser, teeth cleaner, and some sort of refreshing mouth rinser. These girls may not have gone to dental school, but they do know how to pose beautifully.

What do True Blood and Avatar have in common? Makeup artists from both films used Make Up For Ever products to create some of the memorable looks we love. Therefore, it’s about time Make Up For Ever had a presence in Los Angeles. Today (11/11/11) marks the opening of their Robertson Blvd flagship boutique, which is unlike any other cosmetic store I’ve ever entered into. Considering all girls (and some boys) love getting their makeup done, the store serves as a haven for cosmetic junkies. Their cosmetics are high quality and one of my personal favorites, but what’s cool is the retail shop boasts things you can purchase everywhere. For instance, you’ll find an abundance of huge sizes of their popular foundation, glitter, wild eyelashes, and blood (seriously, they have a few types to pick from too).

The staff is super friendly and their goal isn’t primarily to sell you products, it’s more about educating you on how to use them. Pro artists will help teach you which products are best suited for your skin type and face shape. Then with a minimum $40 purchase, you’ll be given a complimentary focus lesson on how to create your ideal eyebrow, complexion, contour, or one of their pro looks yourself. Taking this Make Up School concept a step further, the store is also equipped with a a smart board – a giant interactive screen – which allows artists to create custom face sheets and review application techniques with clients. If your memory is lacking, you can purchase one of their cutesy lipstick USB drives and step into their makeup instruction booth. Here a pro artist will walk you through the application process and you’ll leave with a recording of the session. It’s the first booth of its kind, and I think it’ll be a big hit.

For professional makeup artists, there’s a Pro Loft, which will open across the street. The loft will host seminars and serve as an open venue for shoots & makeup sessions. It’s an appointment only destination, but given there are so much pro artists in this city, I’m sure it’ll become a well-known spot industry spot.

After interviewing famed makeup artist and Revlon‘s Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman, we’ve been keeping our eyes on the cosmetic brand to see what new releases and campaigns they come out with next. Well, it’s almost like the company was reading our minds because two of our most talked about starlets, Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde have been named global brand ambassadors for Revlon. This means come early 2012 expect to see lots of Stone & Wilde in print ad campaigns and TV commercials, where hopefully they’ll be looking their age (click here and here to see what we mean).

Westman said of the actresses, “[they] embody strength, beauty and femininity. Emma is so classic in a Grace Kelly real movie star way and she is an amazing actress as well. Olivia has the most unbelievably beautiful eyes and she is also cool and intelligent. I cannot wait for everyone to see our new Revlon campaigns.”

The makeup artist is no stranger to the beauties as she’s previously worked with both Stone and Wilde in the past. Past prestigious Revlon faces include Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Halle Berry and Elle MacPherson.

The vivid looks were lensed by photographer Nicole Bentley and Young’s eyes are a real standout in this shoot and not just because makeup artist Linda Jefferyes painted bright hues across them. You also can’t miss the array of hairstyles she’s sporting by Daren Borthwick many of which are adorned with lovely birds of paradise flowers.

Being a makeup artist in Hollywood entails more than just dolling up actors for the camera, there’s a whole industry around the different aspects of special effects cosmetics alongside the glam we all love. Enter the International Makeup and Artistry Trade Show (aka the IMATS). Remember we told you about it? Taking place this past weekend in Pasadena, I encountered the world and work of professional makeup artists with emphasis on body paint and special effects.

As you can see from the photos, the influence of Hollywood cinema was strong…there were a sleuth of camera ready creatures roaming the event. Most of the company booths also had a pro artist working hard to create an eye-shot look for attendees. While there, MyFDB also scored an exclusive interview with Make Up For Ever’s founder and creative director Dany Sanz, which we’ll be sharing soon.

Oh and don’t be scared by the photos, there are harmless models under all of these wild looks.

If there is one thing I can say I have come to appreciate…it’s makeup. Usually a black liner, bronzer and red lip (when I want to be fancy) kind of girl, I have taken a major liking to playing around with colors and looks. So if you’re like me, then you’re in for a treat this weekend because the IMATS (short for International Makeup Trade show) are here this Saturday and Sunday at the Pasadena Convention Center. Saturday is sold out but tickets for Sunday will be available at the door.

According to their site, the IMATS is ”the make-up world’s biggest gathering. Thousands of make-up artists, vendors and enthusiasts discuss, display and collect the best the industry has to offer.” Artists will provide tutorials and demonstrations while many new cosmetic products will make their debut at the trade show.

M.A.C.: The cosmetics brand is known for their eye shot ad campaigns like the Hello Kitty one above and you can’t miss their products in “Bold” editorials.

Redken: Tons of hair stylists rely on Redken and their products are also used on runways as we learned during Paris Fashion Week.

Chanel Beauty: With a high fashion name, ad campaigns that show up in tons of magazines and their products are coveted by makeup artists, it’s no surprise that Chanel is on our list. The dancing robots are just another added bonus.

Dior Beauty: Another haute brand that’s used in tons of editorial and cover shoots…we love the sultry ads from Dior.
