What do  Angela Missoni, Donatella Versace and Miss Piggy all have in common? Besides bold looks, these three are all involved in major designer collaborations. (Yes, Miss Piggy is a designer.) Nowadays fresh collaborations are announced practically every day, so we’re left asking ourselves… “Is this even news?” While, yes, many partnerships are exciting and garner mountains of press and make great additional to our wardrobe, others are well…less interesting to say the least. New collaborations, capsule collections, and guest design stints are constantly in circulation, so it’s easy to get lost in the jumble. Therefore, MyFDB wanted to break down some of the most noteworthy collections that you may (or may not) want to add to your closet.

Up first is the highly anticipated Missoni for Target line. Mark your calendars now for September 13th, because you don’t want to be last one on the block without a Missoni bike, towels, dress, or patio furniture. The brand wants to invade our lives and we’re totally okay with it.

Next, Muppet diva Miss Piggy is teaming up with Opening Ceremony for a unique collection. The line will debut during Fashion’s Night Out, but the pieces are still a secret. We hear Miss Piggy herself will be in arriving to show off the looks. No word on the attendance of Kermit or any other members of the Muppet gang as of yet. We’ll keep you posted on how this plays out.

Then Versace is getting into bed with H&M – literally. The retailer will be selling branded Versace bedding along with an array of designs from Donatella this fall. We think the line will sell well, but we’re just not completely sold on if we’d purchase it ourselves.

Lastly, our feathers were majorly ruffled when Prabal Gurung‘s looks for J. Crew were released. Sleek, classy, yet full of pizzaz the designer clearly knows his audience.

So, who’s ready for some retail therapy?

When it comes to internet memes and things of the moment, I’d like to think I am pretty on top of it. So how this whole planking thing began seriously boggles my mind… Don’t know what planking is? According to Urban Dictionary, “the art of planking is to lay horizontally across any object or the ground with their arms by their sides, aiming to occur in daring situations or a brotherly display of core-strength.”

So basically you just look awkard and out of place in public? Hmmm, I think I’m going to have to pass on that one… Well, unless I was one of the models in Dis Magazine shot by David Toro, because they get to plank in couture! Yep, from Missoni (above and my ultimate fave) to Alexander Wang and Givenchy, models plank in high fashion.

C’mon let’s see an editorial where models owl. Coco Rocha did it…

First up is Burberry Prorsum and designer Christopher Bailey, whose collection looks like it’s summer concert ready. Each model wore a woven raffia bobble hat and pieces that were adorned with beading and block shapes with an overall hippy aesthetic. The natural artisan look was actually what Bailey was going for; because this was his way of offsetting the technological powerhouse Burberry image Burberry has developed.

Eccentric and loud designer Vivienne Westwood is already in the 2012 Olympic spirit! The games are set to be held in London next summer, where the designer hails and she brought her spirit full out in full force with her new men’s collection. Most of her pieces are accented with gold and we find medallion adornments, an Olympic-like torch, and a other greek motifs showing how the games come to life with her designs.

One of my personal favorite lines, Missoni, was all about their signature print in the form of knits and t-shirts. Bolder pieces were paired inside a cardigan with shorts, while footwear stayed au natural with canvas shoes and rope sandals. As always Angela Missoni shows guys how to wear print and colors without it being over bearing.

If there’s one brand I love for continually remaining a classic, yet somehow managing to be super cool, it’s Italian brand Missoni. From their ads with Leighton Meester to their latest collaboration with Havianas, I could only dream of the brand somehow collaborating with Target…Well, the fashion gods have granted my wish and in a HUGE way…The company just announced via Twitter that they are launching a 400+ piece (told you it was huge) on September 13th as reported by Vogue. This is the largest designer collaboration set to be released.  From clothes and accessories, to bed sheets and dinnerware, Target will have it all! So now not only will you be able to wear the high-end brand affordably but you can even make your humble abode look very stylish a la Hotel Missoni.

Okay not really, but what can I say ,with all the royal wedding madness today is a day totally dedicated to weddings! And so the latest ads for Vera Wang‘s new fragrance titled Lovestruck feature a very beautiful Meester. I think I might even like these more than her playful Missoni ads.

The campaign features a pretty Meester in a maroon gown by the designer and were shot by Carter Smith. Lovestruck will hit US stores in August.

Missoni is one of my favorite brands of all time, with bold prints, patterns and bursts of color, each season I find myself drawn to family’s designs! Taking my love for the Milano fashion house a step further, I may have to use my vacation days for a trip Kuwait. With doors opening today, this is where the second Hotel Missoni is located! The travel destination and interior design heaven boasts bright designs and decor from Rosita Missoni. The endeavor follows the first Missoni branded hotel which launched in 2009 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Throughout the hotel guests will spot Missoni’s signature stripes and zig-zags along with colorful textiles. To commemorate the opening of the hotel a video illustrating the journey from fashion hotspot Milan to Arabian Gulf city, Kuwait was created. The animation follows Missoni founders, Rosita and Ottavio as they travel in a hot air balloon to the hotel’s destination.

The Hotel Missoni endeavor has me wondering if the Italian house will ever bring the venture to the states? The bright colors and overall Missoni experience could easily fit in somewhere like Miami or Los Angeles.

While their Christmas countdown doesn’t include chocolates, it does feature Dree Hemingway, the Missoni family, DSquared2, and more! Each day a new video, image, or feature is released. The best parts of visiting the site include classic holiday tunes like “Jingle Bells” and “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer” and the falling graphics on the screen…is that a baby Pluto I spy?

Miu Miu isn’t the only one doing the polka; Angela Missoni is switching up her signature print for something on the bolder side. M Missoni‘s Pre-Fall 2011 collection is packed full of polka dots, two-toned color blocked sweater dresses, and lots of black and khaki hues. The over-sized prints are uber mod and scream for attention- in a good way of course. I think the polka-dotted sweater-coat fusion is the perfect break from traditional tweed or hounds-tooth prints put out by other brands. This means we’ll see lots of style mavens rocking their own version of the polka in the near future and we can’t wait!

No you’re not dreaming, the following trippy daydream-like video was created by artist Kenneth Anger for Missoni‘s A/W 2010 — 2011 ad campaign. The mystical video echoes an acid trip mixed with high fashion, while still presenting a true artistic vision. Anger, known for films, Scorpio Rising (1964) and Fireworks (1947), was hired to shoot the Missoni family modeling its fall collection.

By the looks of the video, we can’t wait to see what kind of print ads Missoni will be putting out.
