What inspired/made you want to become a hairstylist?
I always liked doing hair, when I was in high school I used to do my mother’s hair all the time. She was a make up artist and I was always amazed at how she would look so different depending on her hair and make up!
You were most recently in Miami for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim doing hair for Norma Kamali, what were the highlights of the event?
I did 1940′s hair and everyone seemed to love it and commented on it all day long. That was the highlight for me!

Are there any upcoming or exciting projects in the works?
I will be working for Target and Anne Klein which are two of my favorite clients.
Out of everyone you have worked with, who is the most memorable and why?
I must say that I loved working with Sonia Braga and Boy George, but my fondest memories are with Pink whom I worked with for three years and traveled the world with three times!
Do you have any secrets for maintaining a beautiful mane?
Eating properly and many models [have told me] about Viviscal, hair vitamins.

What’s one hair trend you wish would go away?
Bi-levels are awful, but I wish the Kardashian hairdo would go away!
Lastly, what advice do you have for aspiring fashion industry hopefuls?
Becoming a fashion hairstylist was amazing for me, I’ve been to places that I never would have otherwise. I’ve met people I never dreamed I would meet, if fashion is what you like, go for it!

Designer Norma Kamali had a retro fabulous presentation with mostly nude pieces, but she mixed it up some blues and black. Her style is classic, so it’s no surprise her variation of the one piece remains a staple.

Next, a brand from down under, Kooey presented stand-out swirl and feather prints along with ibrant neon lime, bright purple, vivid blue and orange colors which were inspired by Australia’s indigenous culture and native birds. How amazing is that purple top? Gimme!

Going for a goddess theme, a line I hadn’t heard of, Aguaclara showed pieces which had golden accents and asymmetrical designs. The khaki wrap arounds on their bottoms are a unique touch to their provocative suits.

What’s old totally has a way of becoming new again, especially swimsuits. For being such a tiny piece of clothing, the garment is uber important, especially right now during the summer months. One trend we’re loving that’s super cute and flattering on almost every body type is a classic one piece.

Who’s the “go to” for this style? Designer Norma Kamali, who designed her first swimwear collection in 1974. She was inspired by 1960′s Parisian style and her love for swimming. The iconic “Bill” bathing suit she created can be found practically everywhere (a la Miranda from Sex & The City, Jessica Alba in GQ). The Bill swimsuit is considered to have “classic American movie star style” with a sweetheart halter neckline, feminine skirted silhouette and flattering ruching and seams. We like the look so much, that we wanted to show you a how this vintage classic has transformed into a modern staple as you can see by these hot shots.
