The edgy more youthful trendy sister line to high fashion house Dolce & Gabbana is permanently closing its doors. Following today’s Milan Fashion Week debut of D&G’s spring 2012 collection (shown here), it was announced designers Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana will not be continuing the line. This sexy collection has become known for their hot ad campaigns, which are packed with modeling’s most recognizable names. Each season after season D&G’s themed ads receive rave reviews. In the future we’re hoping to see more shine put on the namesake Dolce & Gabbana label. Although we’re guessing it was the over extension of licensing deals which fizzled out the excitement of D&G. The company was everywhere, making D&G everything, which (as we know) cheapens the overall “it” factor of a powerhouse label. Considering they had eyewear, watches, fragrances, jewelry, and a kids line, enough was enough. There’s only so much D&G we can stand to see on sale at Nordstom Rack.

Alas, D&G’s newest spring collection is being overshadowed by the news, however the designers are ending the brand in print-tacular world. A bevy of vibrant hues implanted on gaudy prints hit the catwalk; think flowing dresses, summer skirts, and gold chain accessories.

Discontinuing the line before they make news about their woes is most likely saving the company bad press and may even make those vintage D&G jeans in your closet more valuable. Whether you own any D&G or not, you may want to think about snagging some up. Even though the last collection is overloaded with prints, at least you know it’s a better investment than Missoni for Target.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana‘s flashy and glamorous designs are worn regularly by  A-listers such as Madonna, Uma Thurman, Olivia Wilde, and Jessica Alba to name a few, so the pair know a thing or two about looking and feeling sexy. In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK the duo shared their tips and tricks of seduction for females to take note of.

1. Perfect your underpinnings
Sexiness is a matter of wearing the right underwear. Dolce says, ‘When we dress the model for a show, first we give them the bra, the satin, the lace. It’s all about respect for the body. You never see a woman from the south of Italy without a bra. Never!‘
2. Always add a heel
A Dolce woman always has a heel. Dolce says, ‘For me, it is impossible to see a woman in flat shoes’.
3. Play with androgyny, but remember you’re a woman
Gabbana says, ‘you don’t need to lose femininity by wearing a suit, the first thing I think is, “Is she wearing lace underwear?”.

4. Embrace underwear as outerwear
Gabbana says, ‘If you wear a corset, you lose one size. It puts everything up and it’s perfect. It corrects the shape’.
5. Walk tall
It is all in the way a woman carries herself à la Linda, Naomi, Gisele, Claudia and Eva – the supers who queued up to appear in Dolce & Gabbana shows over the years. Dolce says, ‘When you dress, it isn’t just the body that’s important. It’s the balance of mind and body. Tutto en equilibre!’
6. Be revealing, but always with confidence
Dolce says, ‘It’s not about the skin, it’s the mind. It’s about confidence, but also subtlety. Again, the relationship between mind and body is what’s most important’.
7. A defining feature can be truly sexy
Gabbana says, ‘Personally, I like women who are not perfect. For example, I love a woman with a real nose. A nose is character. Many women want to change their noses, but for me, I’m fascinated’.
8. Find what works for you and stick to it
Dolce says, ‘When a woman has her style, she knows how to choose what she likes, not what is trendy. When you love what you are wearing, the clothes are alive’.

As if Dolce & Gabbana- known for their revealing ads- needed to push the envelope anymore…Well, according to WWD, they are…but this time it comes in the form of dressing and supporting the Dolce & Gabbana Milan Boxing Team during the first World Series of Boxing championship. Apparently, both designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana share a passion for sports, but this the first time they are associating their brand with an actual team.

The duo chose to outfit the team with everything from trunks and gloves to sweats and even formal tailored suits (not too shabby dare I say), as each piece was made-to-measure- in true attention to detail in D&G fashion. This comes as excitement to the athletes because many sports in Italy are overshadowed by soccer, unlike the popularity boxing has in the States.
