“Well, I’m very much a literary person. And my fashion always tells a story somehow. I never look at fashion magazines. I find them incredibly boring. To me, reading a fashion magazine is the last thing I need to do. I’ve got books I need to read. More people should read books. It’s the most concentrated experience you can have. You know, all those incredible geniuses concentrated their lifetimes’ experiences in books. It’s much better than chattering away to somebody who’s never read anything and knows nothing at all.”

First up is Burberry Prorsum and designer Christopher Bailey, whose collection looks like it’s summer concert ready. Each model wore a woven raffia bobble hat and pieces that were adorned with beading and block shapes with an overall hippy aesthetic. The natural artisan look was actually what Bailey was going for; because this was his way of offsetting the technological powerhouse Burberry image Burberry has developed.

Eccentric and loud designer Vivienne Westwood is already in the 2012 Olympic spirit! The games are set to be held in London next summer, where the designer hails and she brought her spirit full out in full force with her new men’s collection. Most of her pieces are accented with gold and we find medallion adornments, an Olympic-like torch, and a other greek motifs showing how the games come to life with her designs.

One of my personal favorite lines, Missoni, was all about their signature print in the form of knits and t-shirts. Bolder pieces were paired inside a cardigan with shorts, while footwear stayed au natural with canvas shoes and rope sandals. With orange being the surprise color of the season and a certain orange-haired designer opening a new flagship shop off Melrose, this week’s Where Wednesday is all about Vivienne Westwood. Los Angeles (not New York), is lucky enough to be the first US store for the british brand. The sprawling 10,000 square foot destination feels more like an abode, than an actual shop. The building is a multipurpose home for Westwood. It serves as the brand’s US headquarters, includes a wholesale showroom, rooftop patio and of course retail space on the ground floor.

The decor of the Vivienne Westwood flagship perfectly reflects the designer’s punk rock meets high fashion aesthetic. Her style is also fitting for all the celebs and musicians who call LA home. Personally, I love her recycled plastic line of footwear she collaborated on for Melissa shoes, which are available for purchase in the shop.

The brand’s creative director, Andreas Kronthaler said of the new store, “We are thrilled to finally open our new shop in Los Angeles.  We have fond memories of our time there and especially love the influence of Old Hollywood.  Vivienne’s designs speak to this timeless sentiment.”
