By: Amy

page0245 medium Karlie Kloss gets a Classic Revival

We’re huge fans of Karlie Kloss in the office as is Vogue; the mag used the young supermodel in an incredible blast-from-the-past editorial aptly titled, “Classic Revival” for their August issue. With photography by Raymond Meier and makeup from Lisa Houghton, Kloss makes us want to go back in time when everyone always presented themselves in a chic manner. You can peep the full editorial on MyFDB.

Vogue’s annual age issue highlights timeless beauty

By: Amy

Vogue‘s annual August age issue highlights not only timeless beauty, but also reflects upon the numerous roles that women take on. As Anna Wintour notes in her Letter from the Editor, “Anyone’s life can turn on a dime; and yet this seems especially true for women, who invariably inhabit numerous roles at the same time.”

At 67, former first lady of Japan Miyuki Hayotama eagerly embraces change and transformation in the moments following her husband’s abrupt resignation.

Former MTV president Christina Norman takes on a new role in her 40s as CEO of OWN, Oprah Winfrey’s new network.

And courageous 54-year-old Patti Hansen, who more than won her battle with bladder cancer, embodies stoic perseverance in the time of an unwelcome ordeal.

Our hats off to these empowering and lovely ladies who were photographed by Annie Leibovitz. You can see more of this issue on Vogue.com and we can’t wait to get this editorial into our database.

Marion Cotillard’s artist portrait x Vogue editorial

By: Amy

page0211 medium Marion Cotillards artist portrait x Vogue editorial

Actress and Dior maven, Marion Cotillard covers the July issue of Vogue. She sat down with the mag to talk about her passions including acting, music, and her true bohemian spirit. The editorial that accompanies the article reflects this artistic theme as Cotillard poses with a vintage camera for photographer Mario Testino.

Marion Cotillard on playing in the Expressionist-Surrealist band Yodelice fronted by composer Mazim Nucci: “I play the bass guitar, keyboard, and tambourine—I’m their one-woman band and all-purpose maid,” Cotillard explains. She’s taken to appearing with Yodelice on tour, dressed as a man, under “Simone,” the name of her maternal grandmother. “It’s pretty refreshing to be in a situation where the spotlight is on someone else.”

On her Oscar winning portrayal of Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose: When the film was over, she couldn’t shake Piaf. Her hairline and her eyebrows were still shaved. She fled with Canet to Peru and the Amazon; she went to Bora Bora with her best friend, Geraldine. “It was there that I found myself articulating why Piaf was still living inside me. She had been abandoned as a child; her greatest fear was to be alone. Now I didn’t want to abandon her. I finally was able to say, ‘She’s been dead for 40 years; it’s OK.’”

This Spring/Summer GQ Style UK cover has a vintage feel with bold orange type and a heavily shadowed cover. We think it’s tres chic and suits this bi-annual men’s magazine.

Team Karlie in Teen Vogue

By: Amy

Karlie collage Team Karlie in Teen Vogue

What happens when you blend high fashion with all-American culture? You end up with the sweet and innocent Karlie Kloss. As one of America’s favorite supermodels, Kloss is no stranger to the fashion spotlight and graces the cover of May’s Teen Vogue. The statuesque model is fierce in front of the camera, but a normal (as normal as you can be, when you’re an international supermodel) high school girl. Her cover and M.V.P. editorial shots were done by Vogue‘s go-to photographer, Patrick Demarchelier.

You can view all of her high school-esque images on MyFDB.

Put on a Happy Face

By: Amy

page0102 medium1 Put on a Happy Face

In many editorials models tend to look serious or in character, so it’s refreshing to see Chanel Iman drop smiles and flirty looks in Vogue España‘s appropriately titled, Happy Face, editorial. Colorfully styled by Maria Aguilar and photographed by Michelle Ferrara, the shoot depicts the playfulness of Iman. Also working on this shoot was Jordi Fontanalas, who took care of beautifying the already gorgeous Iman, along with Assistant Stylist, Kira Alvarez.
