Prabal Gurung worn by Mrs. O

A big congratulations goes out to Prabal Gurung for getting his stylish wear on our First Lady, Michelle Obama. Yesterday she wore a dress by Gurung when she officially handed over her inauguration gown, designed by Jason Wu, to the Smithsonian. Typically a member of the fashion elite would wear a dress by the designer when going to an event in support of them, but leave it to the First Lady to break the rules and share the spotlight with fresh talent. Prabal is no stranger to high-profile clients, but Mrs. Obama puts him into a mainstream realm. Oh and if you forgot our NYFW contest winners did get tickets to his Spring 2010 show at the tents, where Zoe Saldana was front row.

Gurung has literally been on cloud 9 over all the positive attention he’s received by getting the Mrs. O stamp of approval. Yesterday he tweeted the above pics and said: “Y’all dreams do come true. First Lady Mrs. O in my spring 2010 dress. I am so happy.”
