Find Out Who’s Behind Every Great Fashion Blogger!

Nov 23, 2010 By Alissa

Question: Why is it that almost every famous fashion blogger has a photog boyfriend? What would’ve happened if their boyfriends were interested in music or sports, rather than photography? Would these ladies have become fashion bloggers at all? Um...probably not! If fashion blogging were a recipe, a photog boyfriend would be a key ingredient, well…besides style. I’m not the only one whose noticing this phenomenon either; Refinery 29 caught drift and is calling these photog beaus “photo bitches!” Thank you…I couldn’t have said it better myself! OK, so who are the bloggers with bitches? The first famous fashion blogger/photographer couple to come to my mind is Rumi Neely of Fashion Toast and her boo Colin Sokol (pictured above). I wonder if he got those muscles from working a camera?

The second dynamic duo is Karla Deras of Karla’s Closet and her beau pictured above. Let’s not forget about Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere, Sussana Lau of Style Bubble, Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad, and finally Taylor Sterling of Sterling Style.

I was always told that if you have two of the same thing it’s coincidence, it you have three it’s a pattern, and if you have four or more it’s just excessive. This is definitely excessive – but in a positive way. I heart reading fashion blogs at work home, so my bookmarked list wouldn’t be the same without these broads. I guess I should be saying thank you to their photo bitches…er…boys?

I think they become photographers after the fact… they both have mediocre jobs and then boom – the blog takes off and a new profession is born. I dont envy them. These women depend and rely so heavily on their boyfriends. It is so obvious that they are codependent and it is more of an arranged, business relationship. What if they break up? What if one cheats? I would love to see a fashion blogger that is independent, owns her own place, put herself through college and is not dependent on some guy…. like me.

you should also add to the list: Andy Torres and Richard Nicholls from stylescrapbook.com,
    Karen and Michael from wheredidugetthat.com.
It is odd and cool at the same time that a lot of successful fashion bloggers are supported by their boyfriends.

Interesting point you’ve made – I’ve seen a blogger where she broke up with her boyfriend and then she wasn’t posting as many pics as usual. I totally understand where you’re coming from with that.
