Jay-Z has given Gucci more than a few lyrical shout outs in his hit songs, so it seems only natural for the luxury fashion house to support the rapper’s book debut. Yes, you heard right Jay-Z is coming out with a book and he’s celebrating the release like any hip-hop mogul should – with a worldwide marketing initiative. As opposed to popping bottles of Cristal, Jay-Z has opted to place pages from his memoir, Decoded all over the globe, making it’s release an interactive viral adventure thanks to Bing.com.
Where does Gucci come in you ask? Well, they’ve not-so-secretly “hidden” two pages of Decoded on the brand’s 5th Avenue flagship in New York. The text is displayed along with a one-of-a-kind jacket designed by Gucci Creative Director, Frida Giannini. Words from the book are said to have only been placed at locations holding significant meaning to the rapper. Guess this means Jay-Z has a pretty big soft spot for Gucci’s luxury label? Oh and if you’re wondering the jacket isn’t for sale, it’s going to be gifted to Jay-Z who has nothing but love for the brand.
