Mini Monuments Make Christian Louboutin Person Of The Year

Dec 1, 2010 By Lauren Valenti

I don’t know about you, but seeing those red-soled shoes walking in front of me at dinner or out shopping is a definitive oh-my-god moment: the famous words, Christian Louboutin instantly pop into my head. Those signature, jaw dropping red-soled shoes have quickly become a staple in any fashionista’s wardrobe, so it’s no surprise that Christian Louboutin himself received the Footwear News Person of the Year award from WWD. From fashion icons to celebrities to fashion bloggers, everyone seems to be donning a pair of his shoes. Each one his designs are a work of art, it’s like wearing mini monuments or statues on your feet. And according to WWD, Louboutin is a true artist who is both humble and passionate:

“I do what I do because I love it. I’m not doing it to make money…It has ended up being a [successful] company, and I’m not going to say it isn’t pleasant to make a living from your work, but my goal has always been to design pretty shoes and to see them on people who like them.”

Christian Louboutin footwear is sold in some of the most prestigious retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Barney’s New York, and Bergdorf Goodman. Louboutin’s supporters include Diane von Furstenberg, Blake Lively and Gwyneth Paltrow just to name a few. Paltrow has even said that “[There is] no one like [Louboutin]…his shoes are playful, sexy and full of joy.” I have to agree with this statement, I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed with a pair of Christian Louboutin’s. Congratulations on the award Mr. Louboutin, you can count on MyFDB as a full fledged fan!
