Vogue Paris: What A Fashion Magazine Should Be
Admittedly when delving into a fashion magazine I go straight for the editorials! I skip all ad campaigns, articles and anything reportedly containing gossip or rather, “the scoop.” All I want to really see are the artistic masterpieces of photographers, editors, stylists and models alike—especially after seeing the amazing Grace Coddington work her magic in The September Issue. I’m not at all saying the ad campaigns or well written articles are not important, I just prefer to carefully look at those the second time around. With this said, Vogue Paris has been my bible, my dictionary and my encyclopedia lately because guess what?? It’s FULL of editorials, just like a fashion magazine should be! There is just too much to see and study! And leave it to the fabulous French to feature the best of the best in their magazine—fashion, models, photographers.
There is an editorial in their latest issue that best exemplifies this best of the best concept. The editorial is extraordinary, just as it is extensive. There are pages and pages and pages of the best models wearing the best clothing, photographed by one of the best photographers out there. The models include covergirl Lara Stone, Daphne Groeneveld, Saskia de Brauw, Freja Beha Erichsen, Daria Werbowy, Natasha Poly and Joan Smalls. And boy did photographer, Mario Sorrenti have his work cut out for him. Almost every fashion designer, or fashion brand was featured in the editorial that you could think of and I’m not exaggerating either! Some of the fashion featured includes ensembles by Jil Sander, Marc Jacobs, Missoni, Chanel, Miu Miu, Prada, Maison Martin Margiela, Yves Saint Laurent and Lanvin. See, I wasn’t kidding about ALL of the featured fashion designers! Also, talk about THE most color filled issue of Vogue Paris to date! It looks like one very fashionable giant box of Crayola crayons! Be sure to check out the rest of this editorial on MyFDB, it’s a definite must!
