What Were “Choo” Thinking?

When it comes to shoes, it’s simple: I love a good heel and there’s nothing worse than a guy with unfashionable and unflattering shoes! I don’t care if they are Louis Vuitton, Chanel, or Gucci- bad shoes are bad shoes. Given the stigma around how a woman feels about a guy with ugly shoes, you would think Jimmy Choo founder, Tamara Mellon would’ve known better when it came to creating their new men’s footwear collection.  Uhh…no, Mellon definitely missed the memo because I was totally shocked when I saw overpriced sneakers, fugly animal prints and weird shaped dress shoes.

According to WWD, “Mellon had a clear vision for the men’s collection. She drew inspiration from the art world and investment banking to get a concept of the customer. “But it’s not about income or what you do,” she said. “It’s more about attitude. We don’t view men as a narrow category.” Sorry Mellon, but no man on Wall Street would be caught dead in these!

In fact, I don’t know any man (gay or straight) that would think these are fashionable! Oh, and don’t even get me started on the price tag- $595 to $1,095?! That’s just for ONE pair…..Did they have to kill an actual endangered species to make these?!?

Do you like these shoes or are you left asking: What were CHOO thinking?! Leave a comment with your thoughts below.
