Karl Lagerfeld’s Volcanic Eruption For Chanel

Mar 9, 2011 By Amy

Karl Lagerfeld loves to put on a good show and each season Paris Fashion Week show-goers are treated to an extravagant Chanel experience. Well, this year the brand literally erupted! With their runway surrounded by black rocks and charcoal, steam smoldered up as models walked a smokey catwalk showcasing dark masculine looks for fall. What made the event an ever larger spectacle was the daunting drawbridge that opened up to signify the start of the show.

Models walking the catwalk included Freja Beha Erichsen, Stella Tennant, Sasha Pivovarova, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Arizona Muse, Anja Rubik, Baptiste Giabiconi (Showtime!), Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Natasha Poly, Kasia Struss, and more.

With the tune of The Cure’s “A Forest” playing while models walked the runway, the show definitely had a more gothic vibe. Overall the collectionwas much harder due to the use of onyx black tweeds and larger industrial feeling suits and capes.

The volcanic show didn’t have any lava spewing out, but there was a kind of an apocalyptic feel from Lagerfed’s dark vision. Besides, if the world is going to end, its best to go out rocking Chanel!
