Nicki Minaj Channels Barbie for BlackBook

Mar 12, 2011 By Vaneza

Late last year, I attended the ever popular Drake concert and was beyond giddy when Nicki Minaj made a surprise appearance onstage! Her energy is ridiculous and her music even more so because of her crazy vocal range. Nicki Minaj appears to have many sides…Her latest one for BlackBook is in the form of Barbie for their cover and matching editorial, “The Emancipation of Barbie” shot by Andrew MacPherson and styled by Brett Bailey. Except for one pastel pink ensemble that Minaj rocks, the majority of her outfits are in black and white allowing her sky-blue eye makeup and bubblegum pink lipstick to pop! Hence, her “emancipation” of Barbie. I also love her crazy hair…okay, so it’s not Barbie-like but it’s very Nicki Minaj-like! What do you think?

To see other sides of Miss Minaj (Cinderella, maybe?), peep her latest video below featuring Drake, “Moment 4 Life”.

Peep the full editorial and the team behind the scene on MyFDB.

It’s almost a pity that this came out after her V Magazine spread, it was a hard act to follow. These photos are not my favorite. The wardrobe is bland when you consider Nicki is willing to wear head to toe leopard print.
