Nimue Smit: Take Notice, Everyone Else Is!

By Mckenzie

It’s time to feature another one of our favorite models once again! For this week’s Model Monday, we are profiling Nimue Smit from the Netherlands! Technically, people from the Netherlands are called Dutch, but I love a good alliteration, don’t you? Anyways, some say Smit is a new comer and rising star, while others say she’s a veteran…In my opinion she falls somewhere in between these two generalizations. I guess you could say she’s an established model who’s just getting noticed (as in getting noticed by the public that is).

Smit began her modeling career back in 2007 when she signed with Code Model Management in Amsterdam. She has been a runway favorite ever since, which is probably why we kept running into her while at NYFW (see Calvin Klein, Herve Leger, and Prabal Gurung). Smit is also known in the industry for her legs, which would also explain her catwalk fascination. She has walked for Prada, Marni, Miu Miu, Calvin Klein, Jil Sander, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, and Christian Dior, just to name a few… The most recent runway show Smit strutted her stuff in, was the Gucci Fall/Winter 2011 show during Milan Fashion Week.

She has also graced ad campaigns like Mulberry (alongside Lindsey Wixson), Giorgio Armani, Anna Sui and Topshop. See, Smit is not a new comer at all, but nor is she the extremely experienced model like Gisele Bundchen. Instead, she is perfectly situated in the middle. And hey, I for one, am glad people are starting to take notice of her, it’s well deserved!
