What It’s Like To Be Saucy Glossie
Lindsey Calla knows how to rock the latest trends such as color-blocking, but she also has an eye for the dreamiest of locations when it comes to her style shots. This is why it was only an obvious choice to feature her site Saucy Glossie for this week’s Weekend Read. See what she has to say about her personal style and blogging below.
I worked in magazines for a few years and then left New York to live in Sydney for a few months. When I came back, I realized that there were so many changes happening within the industry and that I needed to adapt so I decided to start a blog! The name actually was inspired a bit by Sydney and how they call magazines “glossies” there, so that word was fresh in my mind. I like the idea of dressing up and looking “glossie” and needed a catchy title that was easy to say.
Where do get the idea for the locations of each of your style shots?
I absolutely love art and architecture and love to incorporate that into the aesthetic of my photos. Usually when I’m putting an outfit together I get so excited thinking about where I would wear this to or what background would complement the outfit best. Scouting locations and finding really beautiful places to shoot has become one of my favorite parts of the blogging process.
Sum up your personal style in 5 words or less.
Affordably classic and elegant.
What prompted you to make the jump from editorial/print to blogging/social media?
Well, there really was no choice because there were no jobs in print at the time so I was sort of forced in a good way to look at the new emerging media. But even when I was working in print I tried to cross a bit into online but I think ultimately I love to be more entrepreneurial and blogging allows me to really forge my own path. I love to be able to have the flexibility to bring my ideas and goals to life and social media is the best platform to do that!
And lastly, what are you doing next weekend?
There are 2 birthdays in my family so I will be spending time at home celebrating with them! And my mom takes all of my photos for my blog so I think we are going to try to do a mother/daughter post for Mother’s Day!
Sounds super cute! Thanks once again for taking the time to talk to us and for more on Lindsay be sure to check out Saucy Glossie!
